There’s a bacterial molecule in your gut that you don’t want a lot of.
It’s called lipopolysaccharide, or LPS, and certain bacteria make a lot of it. It’s a type of endotoxin.
LPS forms part of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. When these bacteria die or shed pieces of their membranes, they release LPS into your gut.
You don’t want excessive amounts of it sitting there, and you don’t want too much of it getting into your bloodstream.
